An Unconventional solution for Babri Masjid - Ram Mandir issue!!!!!

Hi guys,

This time the topic which we are discussing is a bit controversial and very important to our country. I won't talk much about the history of controversy because I presume that most of us know it "by heart" - thanks to our media. VHP, Bajrang dal, RSS and other Hindu outfits are fighting to build a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya at the place where the demolished Babri Masjid is located.

What should Muslims do at this cross road where this conflict has alienated them further from their fellow Indians? What should they do to sort out the problems which has taken lives of thousands of people and which continued would definitely take more lives again and again?

I had a talk with some fellow and well aware Muslims and they said that the problem is not only Babri Masjid but more than this. VHP has in their list some 1000 mosques and other pilgrimage places which they allege were built after demolition of Mandirs and they want all of them back (They include Idgaah at Kashi and a Mosque in Mathura too). They say that if they give their claim on Babri Masjid, controversy will start on other mosques too. As per my opinion their fears might be justified in some sense.

But I still believe that if we can work out a deal with our fellow Hindu brothers that we are ready to leave Babri Masjid but in return we need assurance against other places of pilgrimage, we will be able to save some thousands of lives which will be lost in future. Moreover this would lead to a better goodwill of Muslims in the Majority community.

I personally feel that when we say "Allah is Omnipresent" then why can't we forgo a piece of land. Moreover, the Babri Masjid has been closed since 1949 (Not much sure about it but definitely between 1946-1950) and it was opened only when Rajiv Gandhi was the prime minister of India in 1989.

We-Muslims are lucky that we are born in a country as great as India. If we would have been in Switzerland then forget about claiming a demolished Mosque, we would not have been even allowed to build Mosques according to our wishes with Minarets. And Nauzubillah or God forbid, if we were born as minorities in Pakistan then we can imagine what kind of life we would have lead. This is the time to show goodwill to the majority community.

Masjids are not as important as lives of people. A layman Muslim who doesn't have food to eat and a shelter to sleep is more concerned about these things than fighting on roads for a Mosque.
He would better wish to have his children educated than fighting a case which even if we win in court is not actually realizable. (I am sure that everybody would agree that even if we win case in Allahabad High court, we would still not be able to build a Mosque)

Worst is yet to come, if we win the case, anti-Muslim riots will follow across country. This would force the existing government or BJP government to pass resolution with 2/3rd majority of the parliament to revert court's order. This is absolutely possible. We cannot even imagine the consequences thereafter as it will follow second round of riots from Muslims against Hindus. We will end up breaking the social fabric of the whole country.

Instead it is better to gift a place(which is never gonna be yours) and earn goodwill. We need to build a India which is devoid of riots and hatred. Muslims should focus on other important issues like education for both men and women, health care etc. We need to make Muslims educated and competitive enough that they also are able to enjoy the fruits of progress of India.

Let us focus our energies and efforts in building a community with a democratic attitude and strong intellect.

  1. nice solution man.....agar teri tarah sab log sochne lage to bharat mein religion related sub prob solve ho jayenge....

moreover,d reason behind the claim over babri masjid is dat d mughals at d time of invasion demolished thousand of temples. if u search on google about destroyed temples in kashmir u will find a number of temples, idols demolished in indian kashmir n pok....
so u can understand d pain of d ppl....anyways this controversial issue must come to end and india needs to understand d real enemy which is our neighbor.

  2. problem does'nt get solved in gifting a piece of land..problem arises there of..u mean to say u take word of political parties, gift the hindu organisation a piece of land n expect riots dont ever happen again..solution lies with the people..people of both communities along with neutral spiritual leaders like baba ramdev,n other muslim leaders come together n built a mosque n temple..be it a small mosque n small temple but creating a harmony among people..but that's not to be..political parties want vote from illiterate people..so let the matter be it court for years..neither mosque nor temple..just politics n more riots n more votes..tarnishing image of india..solution lies with people who dont wish this problem gets solved!!!

  3. Do you really think that giving away Babri Masjid land will stop the riots? God forbid, if getting Babri Masjid's land was a part of a bigger plan to capture all the mosques in India then giving away the land would be treated as their (majority community's) first success. And this will inturn lead to nothing but more riots and increased grief.

I feel like goverment should occupy this land and build a school or a park on it. That way both the communities will benefit from it and will be able to at least use the land for something good rather than fighting their lives over it.

I like the ideology in the article though, particularly because it is similar to what Ghandiji use to preach: "if somebody slaps on one cheek then you should turn the other cheek" At one point the other person will stop because you are not reciprocating.

A slap on the cheek calls for reciprocation say the eye principle but Gandhi had its own way. But the times have changed and so have the people of India.

  4. Dear Zubair,

I agree to ur views that the piece of land where Babri Masjiod once stood is not so useful for a muslim, for whom employment and education should be a priority. But as u have suggested, if the muslims agree to give the land for a temple or any other social cause, whose assurance can we rely on? is there any body who can give a 100%assurance for this. On the contrary the orgns. who are presently demanding the land, are not even having faith in our constitution and court of laws- which we shud agree are very much impartial till date in this matter. so for them the best way is to continue the struggle, we -both hindus and muslims - do not have the leadership which can solve this issue.

@jandy - if we go by ur logic of reversing the brutalities of the past - if there were any - then each and every section of this country has undergone pain. What will you suggest for the pain undergone by Bihar and Bengal from the armies of Marathas, shud we expect some king of free retaliation towards Marathis for thos past deeds. In the medieval times brutalities did happen, but it was th eway of life for all- u will fine n number of such examples - apart from hindu muslim feuds. why only muslims are expected to reverse the pain - is it bcos now they r minorities ?
